“This is a hotel steeped in history, once a grand bank, now reimagined for the modern traveler, with a location close to the National Mall and Smithsonian museums. The rooftop terrace is a standout, and cocktails in the former bank vault bar are worth the visit. However, reports of inconsistent service give me pause.”

Underwhelming stay. Room issues noted

cute receptionisthot waterbroken ac
the receptionist, charlotte, was very cute and gave great details on local attractions.
Getting cold water was impossible. The shower and sink only dispensed hot, sometimes scalding, water. no bottled water was available in the room or fridge, so i had to buy some at a drugstore. the ac struggled to cool the room below 73 degrees for two nights. On the third night, it broke down completely, leaving the room at 78 degrees.

mixed experience at this hotel

malfunctioning televisionmissing batteries
the room i stayed in had some issues. the tv would not turn off one night. i had to get new batteries for the remote, but the front desk was out. i waited for them to find some. new batteries did not work, so i unplugged the tv from behind the hidden panel. i did this because my kids were already asleep and i refused to have someone come to check it out at that hour.

The hotel features a mini bar, stocked well. I enjoyed a cocktail at the hotel bar one afternoon. The team provided superb service and attended to my needs well.
The check-in felt a bit less special compared to my previous visit.
